Athlete Assistance Program

Objective: To provide financial aid for travel and accommodation to FTC athletes aged 18 -24 in pursuing their development in the sport of triathlon interstate and overseas, as well as Jr. FTC athletes registered in ITU events within Australia.

Goals: To allow our athletes to experience and develop their racing skills in non-local events of high calibre against competition from around the country and globe.

Athlete Application Process:

Athletes must provide to the FTC committee a letter outlining their individual goals for the specific race in question as well as their long-term plans in the sport of triathlon. They must also provide a short summary of what they plan on using the funds for and why they should be allocated this funding from the FTC .

Athletes must provide a detailed race CV incorporating their race history/times/placings as well as their contact details and their coaches contact details. We would also like to know if the athlete has supported the greater triathlon community in any capacity (i.e. mentoring/volunteering) and how long they have been racing as a FTC member.

Athletes must provide a current race calendar listing all their planned races and highlighting their ‘A’ races for the season.

In return for funding the FTC will request submission of a full race report & photo(s) to be posted on our website.

FTC Committee Process:

Applications are to be submitted via email to the FTC secretary by 5pm on Friday January 6th 2012 for consideration at the following week club meeting. A letter will be posted to each applicant in the week following the committee meeting notifying them of the committee decision.

The selected athletes will be awarded up to a $500 grant (depending on the fundraising levels) from the club to be put against travel and accommodation for the race in which they applied. If for any reason they should have to withdraw from the race they applied for the money must be returned to the club. The funding is not transferable to another race later in the season. If they wish to get funding for another race a second application must be submitted to the committee by the appropriate deadline.
