Membership Information – TWA
Membership year
The Triathlon WA membership year runs from 1 July 2011 to 30 June 20112. You must be a member of Triathlon WA in order to accrue points towards Triathlete of the Year and other season awards. You must be a member of Triathlon Australia to receive the ‘member rate’ at all sanctioned events.
Racing age
Your racing age for the entire season is determined by your age as at 31 December 2011. The membership system will automatically generate your age category once you have entered your date of birth.
Types of Membership
There are various types of membership available.
- Senior Membership: This is a full membership giving all possible rights of membership and is open to all members whether they choose to be a member of a club or not. Members are eligible to participate in club events as well as any open TWA sanctioned event in Western Australia, or TA sanctioned events throughout Australia.
- Social: Only available to Club members. This is a reduced cost membership for friends, family and partners who do not participate in triathlons by training and competing but are very much part of the triathlon family behind the scenes.
- Junior: Applies to athletes aged 7 -19yrs as at 31 December 2011.
- Family: Only available to Club Members. This is a reduced cost membership for families of two (2) adults and one (1) or two (2) Juniors that live as a family unit at the same address OR one (1) adult and up to three (3) Juniors. Additional persons should be registered individually. One (1) copy of all publications will be sent per family membership.

What are the benefits of being a member of Triathlon WA?
You are covered for 24 hour personal accident/injury insurance while training for and competing in sanctioned races in Australia. Public Liability Insurance is also in place in all TWA sanctioned events. Further details of the insurance policy can be found here.
PLUS
In the 2011/2012 triathlon season benefits will include, but will not be limited to:
- Reduced race entry fee applies for members for all TA/TWA sanctioned races.
- Sanctioning of triathlon, duathlon and aquathlon events in WA.
- Priority entry to Ironman 70.3 Busselton (Held in May each year). Please note: Entry not guaranteed.
- Provision of technical services to assist in governance of rules, and heightened safety to all sanctioned events in WA.
- Affiliation to WA triathlon clubs (with associated whole of sport insurance) and provision of increased club development services in 2011/2012
- Co-ordination of a State Series of events including SunSmart TRYstars Series and State Championship events.
- Recognition of excellence (Triathlete of the Year) amongst members and clubs (determined by performance in State Series races) with an annual Awards Night in May 2012
- Provision of regular Coaching and Technical Official Courses
- Discount benefits across a wide range of Triathlon WA sponsors and suppliers
- Increased promotion of the sport of triathlon, duathlon and aquathlon in WA.
- All members of Triathlon WA will automatically become licensed members of Triathlon Australia. TA issues all triathlon licenses in Australia
- A comprehensive website full of information and news for all levels of the sport
- A quarterley newletter – Triing Times and regular email correspondence to keep you up to date with all the latest news.
- A TWA member can receive their season membership refunded by participating in a level one (1) technical officials course and then officiating in 3 calendar events throughout the year
- Eliglible to qualify for Junior Elite Development Programs.
- Eligible for selection in State and Australian teams.
- Insurance provisions for all members, affiliated clubs, officials, coaches and sanctioned events in WA
